Thirty-nine hotels will take part in the Octopus Gastronomic Days, which will be held from 3 to 9 August.

The Octopus Gastronomic Days, to be held from 3 to 9 August, will have the participation of thirty-nine hotels, of which twenty-four will offer octopus throughout the week, and fifteen more will do so on Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 Also, on Sunday 9 there will be about twenty octopus stalls in the streets and squares of the village.

This event was presented today, along with the poster, by the Councilors for Tourism and Culture, Manuel Dacal and Diego Fernández, respectively.

Manuel Dacal said that the aim was to offer the possibility of tasting the most characteristic dish of Carballiñena gastronomy, such as octopus at the fair, in a totally safe way for both visitors and residents, and therefore there would be no event official or concentrations of people, but it is a question of dynamizing the commerce and the local hotel trade with all the guarantees of fulfillment of the norm by the covid 19.

Thus, it is recommended to book any day of the week in any of the hotel establishments that take part in these days, for lunch and to enjoy a leisure time in O Carballiño.

Manuel Dacal highlighted the quality of the poster designed by Ari Quintas from Carballiñena, who has already made the Octopus Festival posters for the last two years, and which captures with great plastic beauty the true meaning of this tradition and gastronomic celebration of O Carballiño.
For this, he expressed his gratitude.

He also thanked the collaboration of sponsoring entities and companies, such as Inorde and the Deputación Provincial de Ourense, the Xunta de Galicia, Abanca, Gadis, Aceites Abril, Estrella Galicia, Adega Pazo Tizón, Distillery Paniagua, Cer & Ber, Aparthotel Arenteiro and Akunatura.

Diego Fernández referred to the cultural program that precedes the gastronomic days, and that will take place this weekend, with children’s and family activities and for all types of public, which will take place in the amphitheater of Veracruz and in the Plaza Mayor.

Thus, the screening of the animated film La Gallina Turuleca stood out on Thursday, 30, and the film Los Miserables on Thursday, August 6; on Friday, the 31st, the children’s show Voa, voa, and the folk music festival with two concerts by Caldo and Isidro Vidal; on Saturday, August 1, performance by the clown Peter Punk and the Magician Teto; and on Sunday, The Puppets of the Kukas and the children’s concert by Xoán Curiel.
