The municipality of O Carballiño hosted on Wednesday the security meeting for the Festa do Pulpo, which will be held on August 10 in the Municipal Park of the town of Arenteiro. This meeting was chaired by the government subdelegate and the mayor of O Carballiño, accompanied by representatives of the Civil Guard, Local and Autonomous Police, 061, Civil Protection, Grumir, and Red Cross.
In total there will be about 90 people who will work that day to ensure the safety of the attendees at the festival, calculating that at least 70,000 people will attend this edition.
The sole command of this security operation will fall to the figure of the mayor. The human and technical resources for this operation will be the following: 25 civil guards equipped with vehicles and precise means for their task, as well as 4 civil traffic guards. The regional police will also participate with agents and vehicles necessary for this operation.
For its part, the local police contribute 15 agents, as well as 5 police vehicles. In traffic regulation and safety tasks, 10 Civil Protection volunteers will also act, together with a technician, a supervisor, 12 volunteer grumires, with three all-terrain vehicles.
There will also be 5 volunteer grumires for firefighting and rescue tasks, which will have a light pumper truck, as well as a heavy and rural one, and a tall vehicle. Another 4 volunteer grumires will be in charge of the rescue and aquatic lifeguard, with two inflatable boats, vests.
In what refers to the sanitary section, there will be a medical specialist in emergency medicine, 4 volunteer grumires, 15 Red Cross volunteers, ready to carry out their duties with an advanced medical post, three assistance ambulances, equipped with all the material Precise for its functions. An area in the same municipal park will also be enabled for the landing of helicopters, if necessary.
To all this operation must be added the 15 municipal workers of the departments of works, electricity and environment.
